In my original post, I mentioned that "I really dream of a day where Singapore can become an all-encompassing and accepting nation.".
While queuing up 5 hours to bid Mr Lee farewell in the Lying-in-State ceremony, I am glad I saw and felt the Singapore I dreamed of.
Auld Lang Syne Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
Take care and enjoy after life with Mrs Lee.
I am a month into my first ever real relationship.
We are spending the first 5 months of attached life apart.
I can't wait to see your face and hold your hands again.
I am utterly disgusted by the acts of some Singaporeans.
Although I feel jaded being surrounded by and jostling on the public transport on a daily basis, calling others cockroaches and rallying others to "exterminate" people of different nationalities is really uncalled for.
I really feel that the SG Govt really has be more proactive and urgent in addressing the issue of social integration. We are really stuck in this tacky situation where we are unwilling to give up on the pursuit of national progress at the cost of social unhappiness.
I really dream of a day where Singapore can become an all-encompassing and accepting nation.

"Cause we are male by birth, but men by choice."
Striking the upturned box hard against the flat of her palm
She packs her cigarettes
Compacting the tobbaco as she peels off the clear cellophane
She opens the lid and lift up the paper foil
And almost hastily extracts a stick, bringing it to her mouth
The lighter clicks a few times as it tries in vain to start the cigarette in the strong breeze
Finally, it starts and ignites.
Drawing hard on the stick and into her lungs
It was the feel good drag.
"I love you."
"No you don't.
You love the idea of it.
You love the idea of being in love, but you're not.
You're too dumb and self-centered to love anyone.
You think infatuation is love, but it's not.
You are just too stupid to know any better."
Let's talk about over-correction.
Sometimes we find ourselves in the situation that we wish to get out off, we find that we tend to do things that are ridiculous beyond belief.
I over-correct a lot. Really. A lot. I pretend I don't know I'm doing that but it's useless. When some of friends didn't get along, I acted really nonchalant about the entire incident and laughed everything off. But inside, I know that if I allow myself to slide and behave the same way as them, there is a high chance that our friendship would never be the same again. In the end, long story short, we all settled for something totally opposite of what we set out to achieve.
All of us commit over-correction to a certain extent. When we know we are unable to get things we truly desire, we always tell ourselves to f* it and we proceed to really not give a damn and say some really nasty stuff before getting on with our lives. After which, we commit ourselves to someone/something totally opposite of what we desired in the first place.
We could have skipped the entire over-correction and moved straight to the acceptance stage.
There is even an episode of How I Met Your Mother on the topic of over-correction. In that episode, Barney says this:
"Sometimes you go for someone you'd never expect, but that doesn't make it wrong. Doesn't everyone deserve to be happy?"
I think I may have figured out the difference between Inner Product and Dot Product in matrices.
Also, the difference between Norm and Distance.
Oh wait. Still got that question wrong.
God save me from this misery called matrices!
On a side note, I thought it was quite interesting that the lights in the room went out just as we were nearing the end of Earth Hour.
Thank god the lights came back in around 20 minutes.
Back to work!
