NS Week 3
Well, it's been an eventful week for me over in NS. We did so many things but mainly IFC which is fieldcamp training.
Learnt all the different hand signals and how to overrun enemy, give a firing order, clear a room, pass a window, erect a Basha (tent) and how to walk in a forest and many more.
It was really quite fun except that during IFC, we had to put on camo and FBO (Full Battle Order). Just imagine me with my Long 4 (long sleeve pixellised uniform) with boots, my kelvar helmet (pixellised), my LBV (Load Bearing Vest with 2 grenade pouches in front, 3 magazine pouches in front too, 1 crazy sharp SOG knife at the left side, 1 torchlight at the left side, 1 utility pouch with a toggle rope sitting on top at the back of the LBV, 1 water bottle at the back as well and a water pouch at the back with the straw thinggy going over to the front for me to drink on. And add a SAR21 rifle slinged over my neck and my finger out of trigger and other hand on the handguard.
Yeah. And imagine my neck (front and back) green, ears green, and face green with 3 black strips going across my face diagonally. The camo is not pleasant to put on or wear as it is incredibly stinky to me (some say it doesn't stink). Your sweat will easily wear out the camo and the helmet will erase the camo off your forehead and will stain everything you touch later. When the camo-stained-sweat drips on your eye, you'd swear like crazy for sure. However, the weird thing and prolly the most pain-in-the-ass thing is that it is incredibly hard to wash off! My first time, I applied too much, my camo was thick and at the end of the day, although I sweat buckets, people still said I looked tactical. But when I tried to wash it off, oh boy. I had camo all over my face even though I washed and scrubbed my face like mad! Especially the eye, most likely you'd leave "eye shadows" and the inner part ear is impossible to wash. The neck at the back is easy to miss out also!
Ok, enough about the irritating camo. Basha erecting was not a good experience. Everybody turned hostile when it came to competition and time limits to reach. One of my bunk mates blamed me for using his tent pitch when I had no idea it was his. I was "jagaring" the corners and taking out the tent pitches there and when I was done, I had to do the center part and make it upright. So I took the basha poles and asked my buddy for the 2.5m comscord tentpitch and he passed me one. How was I to know it wasn't ours and ours was still on the ground? After that, some other guys helped to erect our basha because we had difficulties and he spotted our camouflaged tent pitch still on the ground.
After that, my bunk mate went to complain to his clique about me lor. When i didn't know what happened. So I LLST (LAN LAN SUCK THUMB) all the way... That's NS for you. Fucked up. But afterwards, he came to apologise. He's a nice guy actually. From the states and all, says he misses his family. I feel for him. Probably sucks to serve 2 years in hell while everyone else and your girlfriend is in the states. Who knows, what would happen? Will she..wait?
That's all guys. No time for long stories. Have to enjoy my weekends! BOOK OUT~ BOOK OUT DAY~!
